Running Sleight of Hand and the Pickpocket Table 5e

Whenever a rogue or dexterous adventurer declares they want to lift a purse in a crowded market square, Dungeon Masters frequently face the question: "What do I actually find in their pockets?" The dnd pickpocket table turns a routine Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) roll into an immersive storytelling vector with authentic everyday items, guild contraband, and plot-driving secrets.

Setting Sleight of Hand DCs for City Pickpocketing

In 5th Edition rules, resolving a pickpocket attempt opposes the character's Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check against the target's passive Wisdom (Perception). For typical citizens, passive Perception is usually 10. For watchful town guards or merchant guildmasters, set the DC to 15 or 18.

Turning Pocket Loot into Campaign Quests

Our pickpocket table 5e and pickpocket loot table dnd include dedicated plot hooks on rolls 81 through 100. Stealing a mysterious cypher, a noble's blackmail note, or a cultist's bloodstained talisman provides immediate narrative momentum.
